ABOUT ME
Molicia Crichton is a Brooklyn based Visionary Artist who was born on the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She migrated to the US in 1991 at nine years old. Molicia developed her creative interests while attending ER Murrow HS where she won the Certificate of Excellence in Fashion Illustration upon graduating in 1999.
After graduating from FIT in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Trade and Marketing, she pursued a career in the Fashion Industry and worked for over seven years in the import sourcing dept of plus size catalog/web based retailer. In 2011, Molicia’s passion for creativity and desire to educate others on the benefits of a vegan lifestyle led her to transition her career to become an entrepreneur where she utilized her business and product management skills to launch Nile Valley Eco-Juice and Salad Bar at the former Dekalb Market.
In 2014, Molicia co-curated her first Art Exhibition Fundraiser, Unified Visionaries Benefit in which her paintings were also featured. She also most recently worked as the Operations Manager at the MoCADA where she was exposed to wide range of artists and various mediums of artistic expression.
After spending many years cultivating business skills while helping to create platforms for fellow artists to exhibit their work, Molicia is now shifting her focus to embrace her calling to further create a larger body of work. She envisions using art as a tool for healing and navigating towards manifesting a desired lifestyle. Just as worlds are created on a blank canvas, her artistic process has led her to approach life with a similar dynamic. Molicia is now avidly working towards becoming an established multimedia artist by further developing her passion for photography and film.
Molicia's creations serve as tools for developing self-awareness, evoking personal growth, and transformation. Her acrylic paintings and pastel drawings have been deeply rooted in a study of self, her personal life experiences, and are heavily influenced by mysticism. Themes explored have ranged from birth, death, ascension, rebirth, awakening, chakras, energy, frequency, totem animals, multidimensional states of awareness, and sacred geometry.
What started as a study of the journey through the everyday life, broadened into a reflection of earthly existence, connection to nature, incarnation cycles, and transcendence into the cosmic realm. Each piece contains layers of metaphor, some of which are intentionally adopted from philosophical and esoteric studies but came about primarily through intuitive guidance.
Molicia's photography incites viewers to deepen their reflection and fosters re-establishing a connected feeling of oneness with the environment. Her favorite subjects include nature/landscape and portraits/candids of family, friends, and fellow creatives with nature as the backdrop.
